Please review these FAQs regarding the installation of the A+ SIMS App.
Is the update for the client-side software or something that needs to go onto the server containing the SIMS database? |
The application needs to be able to connect to your SIMS Database. Therefore, it needs to be installed on a school workstation or server that has access to your school's SIMS Database. If you are working from home, you should be able to access this remotely. |
Is there any special training provided to users during the 1-hour installation meeting or is it strictly an installation guide? |
Prior to the meeting, the installation will need to be carried out so that when we are in the meeting I can run through the setup of it and then talk you through the process of using it and checking the record in SIMS. |
How do I link siblings in SIMS when imported from the new SIMS App? |
Siblings will be linked in SIMS from their Parent/Carer details. When the parent is pulled through from A+ on the new App it will check if they already exist in SIMS. When they confirm, the students then become linked (via the parent details) in SIMS. |
Who can be imported using the new App? |
When using the new SIMS App to import students they must have a 'COMPLETE' registration form or they will not show on the import list. |
What is the latest version of the App? |

Do I need access to the server for the new App? |
The application needs to be able to connect to your SIMS Database. It, therefore, needs to be installed onto a school workstation or server that has access to your school's SIMS Database. If you are working from home, you should be able to access it remotely. |
How can I find my Server and Database details for the App? |
In SIMS, go to Help/System Information and they are both there for you to copy. |
What is my Admissions+ ID for the new App? |
This is your Admissions+ Username. |
I don't know my login details for the A+ SIMS App — what do I sign in with? |
The A+ SIMS App signs in with your Admissions+ account — the same username and password you use for Admissions+ itself. Your "Admissions+ ID" is your Admissions+ username, which can be your username or the email address you normally sign in with. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it yourself from the Admissions+ sign-in page — see "If you don't know your A+ SIMS App login details" below. |
I have Hosted SIMS can I still install it? |
For hosted SIMS, we need to install Admissions+ Windows Application in the same machine with the SIMS.net and the integrators application is installed along with the VPN connection. The Admissions+ Application needs to read the libraries from SIMS.net directory and need to be able to connect to SQL Server like SIMS.net does, that why we need to install it on the same computer with the connector along with the VPN connection. |
If you don't know your A+ SIMS App login details
The A+ SIMS App doesn't have a separate account of its own. It signs in with your Admissions+ account — the same username and password you use to sign in to Admissions+. Your "Admissions+ ID" for the App is simply your Admissions+ username, which can be your username or the email address you normally sign in with.
If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it yourself from your school's Admissions+ staff sign-in page. Open the sign-in page and select Forgot your password? beneath the login box.
Enter the email address linked to your Admissions+ account and select Reset Password. If that address is in our system, we'll email you a link to set a new password.
Once you've set a new password, use it with your Admissions+ username to sign in to the A+ SIMS App straight away — there is nothing extra to update inside the App.
For security, your account is temporarily locked after several incorrect sign-in attempts and unlocks automatically after 15 minutes, so if you have just had a few failed attempts, wait a few minutes before trying your new password.
